Welcome Home Anaconda Warriors!
We originally designed this website for two purposes: first, to provide support to our soldiers currently stationed overseas in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and second, to provide information and resources to their family and friends back home. As you know, our soldiers are on their way home. We would like to thank all of those who participated in the various projects in support of our troops. Best wishes and Godspeed Anaconda warriors, a job well done!
Homecoming News (how's that for a good title that we've all been waiting for?)
From 4ID Rear Detachment at Fort Hood: Bob, we just updated our website to include when the Welcome Home Ceremonies will be held. The first one for HOOD (DIV HQ lead elements) will be 17 Jan and the first one for CARSON will be 21 Jan (3BCT). Exact times will not be known until we get much closer. The direct link is http://www.hood.army.mil/4ID/main/homecoming/homecomingindex.html but you can get there from the main web page (where the “Walk to Iraq and Back” was located at the top of the page - click on the link at the top of each update).
This information will be continuously updated as it pertains to 4ID. Unfortunately I am not privy to other “former” 4ID units like the 41st Fires or 4/1CAV.
Note from Bob: I'll start including a Homecoming News section in future updates. For other units returning, other than organic 4ID units (4ID HQ, STB, 3BCT (Fort Carson), and 1BCT (Fort Hood)), you will need to check with your rear detachment and/or FRG at the station where your Soldier will be returning. I know most of the Fort Polk 4BCT/10 MTN DIV Soldiers are home now, 2SBCT of 25ID will be returning to Schofield Barracks in Hawaii around the same time 4ID HQ returns, and other units of MND-B still have several months left on their tours before they start thinking of coming home.
